Youth Council Activity Schedule


The Youth Council of the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board promotes career education, expands employer support within schools and connects local industry to Lancaster County’s youth. Listed below are opportunities to excite and inspire the next generation of workers in Lancaster County.  

  • Youth Career Summit: January 24, 2017. This annual event highlighted the local labor market and career educational resources. The Summit provides a forum for employers and educators to come together to discuss prepare job-ready youth. 
  • Countywide Job Shadowing Week: April 25 – 29, 2017. Students in grades 7 - 12 throughout Lancaster County are invited to participate in this collaborative effort during “Take Your Son or Daughter to Work Week”. We partner with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry, whose Career Connect website helps to connect students and employers for job shadowing and other opportunities. 
  • Industry Tours for Educators: June 20-22, 2017. These tours provide a unique opportunity for counselors and teachers to learn directly from local employers about high priority occupations, projected job growth and new technology within STEM industries. This is a great way for employers to connect with their future workforce.
  • Career Connect: Sponsored by the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this local database contains hundreds of career exploration opportunities including job shadowing, mentoring, internships, teacher resources and ability to connect with local businesses.
